Lunch at Kona Cafe

Good morning! Happy hump day! And, happy first day of AUGUST! Can you believe it? Summer is flying by before our eyes, and we haven’t even been to the beach. Literally crying inside about that one to tell you the truth. Do you have any fun plans for the rest of the summer? Please share them with me, as I have none. BOOO!!!

Well, it is the middle of the week, but I am feeling like it is totally supposed to be Friday already…right? Joking. No but really, yesterday was a challenge in itself and I am so ready for a new day…or a new weekend. Haha. The good thing about yesterday was that I got to spend a little over an hour with Michael when I got out of work, during his little break he had in between work shifts. He worked so much yesterday. The man is a machine I tell ya! When he left again, I went over to my sister’s house for some play time and MANNN were those boys full of energy! The second I got there Gio threw pillows in my face and we had a pillow fight. Enzo found it amusing to hit me with his little water gun a million times. I loved it. They are just so sweet and bring so much love into my life!! 😉

As it is a new day (and a new month), I am totally trying to get my spirits lifted and get into a happier mindset for today. With that, this morning started with a 20 minute full body HIIT workout, followed by a 35 minute incline walk on my treadmill. I am feeling a little better after that workout since a workout always helps me cheer up, but I think I am going to need some extra inspiration today.

I’m coming at you today with another Disney post! Missed any of the others? No worries! Find our room at Saratoga Springs HERE, dining at the Grand Floridian Cafe HERE, dinner at Chef Mickey’s HERE, breakfast at Cape May Cafe HERE, dinner at ‘Ohana HERE, dinner at California Grill HERE, dinner at Garden Grill HERE, and dinner at The Crystal Palace HERE! Woo! So many fun Disney posts!!

Lunch at Kona Cafe

Kona Cafe is located inside the Polynesian Resort, on the top floor right next to ‘Ohana. Kona Cafe is a more relaxed cafe with Asian inspired, American meals and also offers an onstage sushi kitchen. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…and home to the famous Tonga Toast! (We have never been there for breakfast). We love Kona Cafe and definitely have this one on our favorite’s list since a couple years ago. If you remember, they used to have a glorious fruit plate that came INSIDE a pineapple, but unfortunately they got rid of that and their fruit plates keep on changing with each visit we take there.

We had reservations, but I saw a few families walk up to the check in desk and said they did not have reservations, and were still able to be seated…which is good to know! 😉 Sometimes you get off the monorail from Magic Kingdom and you just want some food!! Anyways, upon check-in I did inform the hostess that I had an allergy, but she didn’t give me a menu or stamp our slip with a red “allergy” label or anything, but it was no big deal. Once we were seated I asked our waitress if I could have some of their allergy friendly rolls, and I think that annoyed our waitress, as she asked if I had an allergy and then left our table all flustered. She came back with an allergy friendly menu, which looked pretty similar to their regular menu, but I knew I just wanted some fruit so I didn’t even need that really. I asked our waitress if there was any way I could have a fruit plate similar to their breakfast one, since I remember from last time it was good. Once again I think that annoyed her because she kind of was rolling her eyes at me and left our table again. Sorry, lady, just want some fruit here. She came back and said the chef could make some type of fruit plate and that was fine. I ordered that said fruit plate with a side of steamed broccoli, and Michael ordered their chicken Asian stir-fry.

I was pretty disappointed in my fruit plate, if you can’t tell by the picture yourself. I don’t know what those balls were on it but Michael said they exploded some sweet juice. They actually look like the boba balls from Pandora…but, I pushed those to the side as all I wanted was fresh fruit. If you remember my review from last time (and the time before) we dined here…the fruit plate looked (and just WAS) way more appetizing and delicious. I am not sure what was going on, but this was straight up yucky. I was glad I had the broccoli, since that was the best part of my lunch. Haha. Michael said his dish was okay. Our waitress kind of was ignoring us after our food came out…I don’t really know what was going on, but every time we have dined here we had good service and good food. Maybe it was just an off day or something.

Overall, we love Kona Cafe and are not going to delete this one off our favorite’s list just yet. I mean, ‘Ohana was really slacking (what is going on with us and the Poly?!) , and since we won’t ever be going back there after the experiences we just had, we still need to have a reason to go eat at the Polynesian Resort, because I just love it so much. 😉

Stay tuned for more! 😉

Have a beautiful first day of August, loves! Xoxo ♥♥

  1. I know, summer’s going by so fast! But at least August means peaches. I’m using that to console myself, haha. Your nephews are the sweetest and I love your relationship with them. They’re lucky to have you as their auntie!

    1. Ooooohhh! Peaches! Yessss! I am excited for peaches also! 😉 Aww, thank you so much! You are so sweet! They mean the world to me, I just love them! Hope you are having a great week! xoxo
