Lunch at 50’s Prime Time Cafe

Hello! Happy Thursday!

I hope your Wednesday turned out to be a good one. Mine was dragging…I don’t really know what is going on, but this week seems extra long and just extra annoying. Maybe it had something to do with the weather yesterday; it was gloomy and rainy, which always puts a damper on my mood. Anyways, after work, Michael and I went to the grocery store to get some fruits and veggies, you know, the essentials around here. I then spent my night snuggling with my new loveys while watching The Proposal once Michael went to jujitsu training…it was a wild Wednesday night around here I tell ya! Ha! I also FaceTimed my sister to see the crazy boys and to laugh my butt off, when really I was laughing my abs off because they were so sore and laughing just intensified the soreness. Haha. Don’t you hate when that happens? Okay, I guess we don’t hate it…because I would much rather have them be sore than not sore because then you know those core exercises are workinnnn girl!

I guess I really wanted to feel the burn in my abs today because my workout consisted of a 20 minute abs and arm workout and then a 45 minute run/incline walk on the treadmill. Now I think it is safe to say I am SUPER sore and it burns so good.

I’m coming at you on this fiiiine Thursday with another Disney post! I only have a few left from our trip, so I am trying to space them out so I can reminisce for a little while longer 😉 Have you liked these posts? I certainly have loved publishing them. Are you sick of them? Well, if that is the case you are in luck when this blog goes back to being it’s normal self with day to day happenings…until our next vacation (in 88 days, but who is counting?!?). Today’s is a fun one! It’s all about our dining experience at 50’s Prime Time Cafe, which has always been a favorite of ours.

Lunch at 50’s Prime Time Cafe

50’s Prime Time Cafe is located inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios..whoops, totally just typed up MGM Studios and then quickly had to erase that. I mean, let’s be real, isn’t it hard to not call this park MGM still? I can’t be the only one who feels this struggle! 50’s Prime Time Cafe is SUCH a fun restaurant and I always find myself leaving with a sore face from laughing and smiling so much during our meal. You may remember my previous posts about this place from past vacations, but this time I am going to try a little bit better to give you a glimpse into the fun. This restaurant takes you back into (take a guess!) the 1950’s, reminding me of my Grammy and Grampy’s home and making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. (Now if only it smelt like their house, and my Grampy’s cologne..wouldn’t that be something?!) At this restaurant, everyone is treated like family and is in for a fun time.

The restaurant atmosphere is literally like you stepped into the past, or best, like you just stepped into a 1950’s sitcom (like ‘I Love Lucy’ or ‘Leave it to Beaver’). Now I don’t know about you, but for this reason alone….I just LOVE it! There are little tv’s located in each room so you can watch some of those favorite old sitcoms…sounds fun right? While you are there to have a good time, there are some rules that everyone is expected to follow upon sitting down at your table. These rules include: setting the table/doing your “chores”, no elbows on the table, eat your vegetables, no walky-talky’s during dinner, and make sure you eat everything off your plate to get yourself a sticker. However, if you don’t follow these rules your waiter/waitress will gently poke fun and and remind you of them.

Once we were seated, our amazing waitress (I WISH I remembered her name, because she was phenomenal) came by to get us started with some drinks and take our order. I must add that just like at every other Disney restaurant, I informed the hostess at check-in that I had an “allergy” and was given an allergy friendly menu, but like usual, I already knew that I pretty much wanted a salad, fruit and veggies. Our waitress was more than accommodating about me being vegan and gluten free, and asked me if I had wanted to speak to the chef but I told her that if the chef could make me some type of garden salad with balsamic dressing on the side, a fruit plate, and some steamed veggies, I would be good! Our waitress went in the back to check with the chef, and quickly came back to tell me the great news…he was more than able to do that for me. Happy dance! Not before long, our waitress came back with not one, not two, but THREE glorious plates of food for me. WHAAAT!!! These plates were not only huge, but beautiful with colors!! I can’t even put into words how excited I was when I saw these gorgeous plates of fresh fruits and vegetables put in front of my face! I mean, just look at this feast I was given!!

Along with my amazing meal, Michael ordered the chicken pot pie and he was equally as excited when our waitress brought out his plate for him. Since I was not going to finish all that food of fruits and veggies that I was given myself, I was nice enough to share with the hubs too. 😉 Michael was a champ and literally licked his plate clean since it was just thaattttt good people..and he earned his sticker!! Woo! You go hubs!

Now, for dessert, I had read some reviews prior and I think I read that they can make some vegan milkshakes, but really I just wanted a little bit of sorbet. So, sorbet it was! I got a small dish of a scoop of raspberry sorbet and it was so good on a hot day! Michael got Mom’s brownie that came with a chocolate brownie, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. Mmmmm!

With full bellies, happy hearts, and sore faces (from laughing/smiling so much), we left 50’s Prime Time Cafe reminded why we love it very much, 100% sure we were going to go back again. I don’t know about you, but any time where we can “pretend” that we live in the 1950’s and “go back to the past” is a GREAT time to me!! 🙂 Stay tuned for more!

Have a wonderful day, beauties! Xoxo ♥♥
