Sweet Summer Time

Hellloooo! Happy Wednesday to you!

I hope you are doing well and are enjoying summer! I have been trying to soak it all up, hence the lack of blog posts. Oops. I do plan on getting back into more regularly scheduled blog posts, but for now I am just taking it easy and trying to enjoy what is left of summer. I know it will be done in a flash and I will be real upset if I even for a second feel like I didn’t spend as much time enjoying it as I could have. So, for now just plan on around 2 blog posts from me a week while the summer is still here. If you have any type of posts you want to see from me on here in the future, please send them my way! I want to get a little bit more feedback from YOU. Don’t be shy. I was a “silent reader” for YEARS before I started blogging, so I know how it is. But I promise I won’t bite, and I promise I love you forever!

That little Instagram story block thing that went on last Thursday ended up being a blessing in disguise because even though I was still active on my Instagram all weekend long, I didn’t spend nearly half as much time on there as I usually do. Which means I was totally enjoying my life, my family, and summer!! But seriously, I have wasted so much time swiping through people’s stories, don’t get me wrong, I love watching them (obviously), but especially people that I don’t even’s a total waste of time, and it definitely made me realize that. I don’t feel like I have to get on there and instantly start watching stories, and instead I do it when I feel like it now.

So, what have I been up to?

I’ve been getting lots of outside time. Being outside in the sunshine makes me SO happy. And I don’t know what is going on, but a huge intention for me this summer is to GET OUTSIDE and enjoy it! I’m usually one that is totally fine with staying inside and staying away from the bugs (lol), but I just want all the sunshine I can get, and most of the time I can deal with the bugs, unless there are millions of them that case, you can catch me inside dreaming of being outside. Haha.

I’ve been spending as much time as possible with my two boos, my nephews Gio and Enzo! I’m telling you, they are the loves of my life and I can’t even describe how much I love them. They make my day! Being able to spend time with them mostly every day has been a HUGE bonus to my summer. I love it!

I’ve been spending time with my family, as usual. We celebrated my sister’s and my brother’s birthdays this past weekend. The boys were super duper excited about the cake, per usual.

Another intention of mine for this summer is to get to the beach at least once a week with Michael. Okay, realistically we probably won’t get there every single week, but if you think about it…there is only about a month and a half left of “summer” here in Massachusetts, and I really really just want to spend what is left of it at the beach! (Life goal: have a beach house one day.) Obviously we are late to the game in this because we only have been to the beach once last week, and once this week, but I want to keep it up! And of course, I’ve been trying to spend as much time as possible with Michael, but that time is limited due to work, training, and other activities. But I am happy with whatever I can get, and I most definitely want to spend that time at the beach!

I honestly think the beach is my happy place. Funny, usually I say Disney is my happy place…but at the beach, I am happy because I’m with the ocean and the sunshine, and Michael is happy, so that makes me really happy. In Disney it’s a different story even though I am super happy there, he isn’t. And a big plus..I can pretend we are on a little mini vacation (yeah right, maybe a little “getaway” is the correct word to use here) whenever we go to the beach.

Just being able to lay on the sand and sit with a good book (Own Your Everyday is my jam lately, this is my second time reading through it and I can’t even tell you I feel less obsessed with it as I had the first time I read it, it’s just so good, go read it.), and of course a snack! You know me, I always bring snacks with me so you bet I bring some fruit in our beach cooler for Michael and I. Usually I put apples, pears, bananas, you know….all the yummy fruit! 😉

Ask me a year ago if I thought I would be going in the New Hampshire freezing cold water at all and I would have laughed in your face with a biggggg huge N-O for an answer. I was never ever one to go in the water, I mean come on…I’m totally more of a pool girl through and through, but I don’t know what is going on this summer…I’m totally loving the beach. I think it’s safe to say I am venturing out and trying “new things” to try to be my best self this year, and going in the (ice cold) ocean up here is one of them. Haha.

Along with that, I’ve been trying REALLY REALLY hard to keep that inner mean girl locked away and out of here, but she keeps creepin’ on back in. It’s a daily struggle for me, so don’t think for one second that since I wrote that blog post and shared my inner mean girl free beach day last week with you, that I “never” have bad body image days. More often than not I do, and the past two days were a reeeeeeally terrific example. Take Monday for example, it was a beautiful beach day for Michael and I but that inner mean girl made her appearance, especially when Michael handed me my phone back after taking photos of me in the water. And she has totally overstayed her welcome because I went to both Old Navy (earlier in the day) and Target (later in the day) to try on bathing suits yesterday and pretty much had a meltdown in the dressing rooms, leaving both stores with nothing. (Which is good that I am not spending money that I shouldn’t be spending, but not good for my self love.) So yes. I struggle. But in the midst of this struggle I have been saying a big old F you to that inner mean girl and trying to shut her out, so I think that is progress. So while you may have seen these beach photos I have shared on my Instagram page, where yes I am super happy in the moment and smiling, I am FIRST to point out all of my flaws, but I chose to embrace it and post them.

No beach trip is complete without a stop at Sabo’s Subs for lunch. This is pretty much the main reason why we go to Hampton Beach (and because of the memories we have of going there when we were still just dating)…these “subs” which are more wraps than subs, are deeeeeeelicious! If you go to Hampton Beach and you haven’t tried them yet, what are you doing with your life?! They are so good, fresh, and healthy! I get there are so many other options along the strip, but this is our number one favorite! I could easily eat this all day, everyday. They even have a vegetarian option for a wrap, which is what I get….but of course modify it to have only lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and yellow mustard (it originally came with cheese, seasoning, and onions). Don’t worry, Michael makes up for my meat-less wrap by getting extra meat in his Italian wrap. Haha.

And with that, I am ending here. Off to enjoy summer some more and heading to the beach today to meet up with my sister, brother in law, and nephews since they are staying at the beach tonight! XOXO
