10 Ways To Help You Get Through A Struggle

Helllooooo! I hope you are having a great week. I can’t believe we are half way through August, how insane is that?! I know I say it all the time, but summer has been going by way too fast. (Insert major sad face).

I apologize for going MIA on the blog since last week, but this week has been a struggle. I’m going through some things that are personal and that I am not sharing, but just know that if you ever think that I lead a pretty life all of the time, you are kindly mistaken. Bumps in the road happen, and I try to be transparent about them, because even though I am so blessed and have sooooo many things to be thankful for and be happy about, sometimes things come crashing down. But, I know how to handle these trying times pretty well if I do say so myself, I have some handy dandy tricks (lol, I totally just sang that handy dandy notebook song from Blues Clues when typing that) that help get me through.

Pray, pray, pray. Always pray. Praying will ALWAYS get you through anything, good or bad. You don’t even need to actually speak, God hears tears too. Sometimes I don’t even have the words to say or I am just too distraught to speak, but I know He is listening and understands it all.

Okay, yeah I know, it’s my word for 2019 again. Trust. Trust in the Lord and KNOW that He has a plan for you. Even if whatever is going on right now seems like it just CAN’T be from Him, it probably isn’t, but you know Jesus and you know that the enemy has nothing on YOU because of Him. So whatever you are facing right now, He will pull you out of it. And you will be stronger because of it.

Put on your favorite worship songs and praise. The Christian Contemporary TV channel is the best thing ever, and since there is hardly anything on TV during the day that is what my TV is on. Music is my life. I need music all the time. I don’t know about you, but I love singing. I’m not good at it (sorry, not sorry), and I’ll do it all day long. Even if I’m not in a hard time I am listening to worship music. Okay but if you know me, you know that I definitely listen to other music besides worship music too….BUT especially in hard times I am listening to worship music. And let me tell you, it might be hard because you might cry your eyes outs when a song hits you right in the heart, but that’s okay. You’r going to push through that pain and you are going to worship your little booty off, sister.

Work Out

Obviously this was going to be on my list of things to help me get through hard times, did you think it wouldn’t be? Working out takes my mind off of life for 28 minutes-84 minutes, or however long I workout, and those minutes are the most glorious minutes of the day. Especially when working out with obé fitness, the trainers INSTANTLY bring me to a happy place, and have me smiling the second the workout starts. It truly does wonders for not only my body but for my mind.

Be proud of yourself

Okay, I know what you’re thinking, what do you mean ‘be proud of yourself’? How could I be proud of myself when I am going through something hard right now? Hear me out. YOU are strong, and even in these hard times…you are getting through them. It might not be pretty, but YOU are doing it. No one else. YOU are waking up every single day, despite this hurdle, and you are facing it. Head on. So be proud of that, because I am proud of you. And sometimes you just need to have a little pep talk with yourself, so go on…tell yourself that you are so proud of yourself. Seriously, I’ll wait.

Talk to someone

It could be your pastor, counselor, therapist, friend, sister, brother, mother, father, whoever it is….talk! Talk to someone who you trust and who you know will not judge you. Judgment is gross. And it can make your situation even worse, so please choose wisely. Your church should offer some kind of counseling if you don’t know where to look to, or ask your pastor to recommend someone if they do not offer those services.

Easy, right? No. Trying to breathe in a situation where (in my case) you are having a panic attack or you are feeling like your heart is broken and you can’t go on, IT IS HARD YOU ALL. I know. I know. But you have to breathe. You have to remember that breathing will calm your nerves down and will stop you from feeling like you are hyperventilating. Do it.

Go outside

Get some sunshine, plain and simple. Go for a walk, stretch your legs, do some yoga outside, but most of all, just go outside.

Okay, this is going to seem stupid. But you know that saying “fake it till you make it”?! Yeah, well I really don’t like that saying because I hate being fake….but in this case, smile. Fake that smile till you can actually smile. Because smiling can just make you feel better. And you look 100 times better when you smile, just saying.

Know your worth

I know that when you are struggling with something, sometimes you can feel like you aren’t enough or that you aren’t worthy. But let me stop you right there sister. YOU ARE WORTHY. You are worthy of happiness, love, and a life full of possibility. Believe that. And once you do, you will not accept this feeling or whatever happened to make you feel this way.

And there you have it, 10 things that help ME get through a struggle.

I hope you can use some of these and I hope they can help you get through any tough times you may face in your life. XOXO
